RE: Picked up a Champion genny today

I picked up a Champion csa40025 from Costco last week for $199.99. I just couldn't pass on that deal for a generator with 3500w starting watts and 3000 running watts. It fired up great and isn,t nearly as loud as I thought it would be.

Myrtle Beach State Park

We're heading for Myrtle Beach State Park on Friday. We'll be there for ten days. Looking forward to the vacation. I just had a few questions for those who've been there.
We've got a 4 and 10 year old and were wondering about things that we shouldn't miss. Also any suggestions of things to do in general would be greatly appreciated. The last thing I was wondering about was whether MBSP has a pool and playgrounds. thanks in advance for any info or suggestions.

RE: what just happened, 5er lights went real dim

Same thing happened to us a few years ago. It was a bad inverter. Its an easy fix though. I think there are only two wires to attach to the nverter and the other end plugs into an outlet right near where its mounted. It takes about ten minutes to change, a real diy repair. Good luck.

RE: Duramax unloaded mileage

I don't seem to get any better mileage than I did with my 02 Sierra with a 5.3 litre. My current truck is an 05 2500 Sierra with a Duramax. I still seem to get only about 17mpg empty and about 12 towing a 28 ft Terry. I try to keep it between 60 to 70 mph.

RE: travel park at virginia beach

We've been there twice. Everyone had a great time, both at the park, and in Virginia Beach in general. The only thing I would suggest is to avoid getting a site too close to the main pool. As tempting as it is to be close to the main pool and playground, you should keep in mind that they have a band playing at the pool EVERY night until 11 PM. If your kids are younger it's tough to get them to sleep with music blaring. The only other thing that I didn't care for about being so close to the action, was that other people had a tendency of cutting through our campsite to get to the pool.

Dogs at Myrtle Beach state park

We're going to Myrtle Beach State Park in August. On this trip we're bringing along our Beagle (Woody). Just curious how pet friendly this park is. For example could we bring him to the beach, or is there a separate dog park, or beach area. Thanks in advance for your help.

RE: Storage Fees

We pay $30.00 a month at a local RV Dealer and Campground. If I need service done to the trailer I dont have to drag it anywhere. The place is secure, and we have dump facilities. The storage is outside, but I have no complaints, and if i need anything out of the trailer its only 15 minutes away.

Tire Recomendations

I went to check out our trailer after a long winter of storage. I noticed some minor sidewall cracking on one of the tires. I think they may need to be replaced. Just looking for tire recommendations, and potential cost. I've found prices for Carlisle tires, but my understanding is that they not that good a tire. The trailer currently has Goodyear tires. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

RE: Rockwood Tent Campers

Our previous trailer was a 97 Flagstaff, same manufacturer as Rockwood. It had a shower and cassette toilet combo. With two small children it was great to have a clean toilet, and shower onboard. It was a great trailer. We had no problems with it at all. Forrest River (the manufacturer) makes a great product.

RE: Do you ...

A few weeks, more like months. We're going away for our yearly big family trip at the end of August. I've already poured over the maps to the point that I know where we'll be stopping to eat, not just the route. For me planning, and anticipation is most of the fun.

RE: Huntington Beach SP vs Myrtle Beach SP

Thanks for all the input. We decided on Myrtle Beaach SP. We're looking forward to being close to the attractions, but still in a State Park, as opposed to the semi detached camping that you seem to get at many of the private parks. I know there may not be all the facilities, but I think we should find enough things to do to keep us busy. We'll be there from Aug 18 to 28, site 95. Thanks again for the help.

Huntington Beach SP vs Myrtle Beach SP

We're planning our summer vacation (August). Thinking of Disney for a few days, and then a week or so somewhere between Fl and Canada for a week to ten days. We've never been to Myrtle Beach but it sounds like fun. With two kids in tow ages 4 and 11 we need some kid friendly places. I was thinking of either Myrtle Beach State Park or Huntington Beach State Park primarily because they both have full hookup sites, and are reasonably priced. Of the two which would be a better pick as a family destination. Any other suggestions would be welcomed as well. Thanks.
